Anders Wiklund currently works almost exclusively with water colours, inspired by the landscapes around Orsa, on Fyn and in Österlen – places that have played a major role in his life and influenced his career as an artist. Anders Wiklund's love of the countryside - especially areas where land meets water and sky -  is keenly apparent in his paintings. It seems most fitting that his studio in Stockholm is in a lakeside setting.

Wiklund's formal training, initially as a sculptor, took place in Stockholm at The University College of Arts, Crafts and Design. During his course of studies and for several years thereafter Wiklund's focus was on sculpture with commissions including the water sculpture ”Figure - Swimming” for a Danish canning machine factory, ”The Millstone” and numerous mobile compositions, giving proof of his care for detail and finish, with an  uncompromising and dynamic approach. But, even during periods of intense focus on three-dimensional works, Wiklund found time to produce a limited number of water colours from ideas that had lain latent. These works have perhaps been produced out of a need for contrast or counterbalance to working in stone and wood.  His roots in sculpture are still clearly apparent in the frames which Wiklund produces for some of his works – some in sea-soaked wood - discreetly enhancing or consciously complementing the core motif. Here, Wiklund's feeling for, and understanding of, the nature of wood are unmistakable.

Inspiration for many of the paintings on exhibition at Dansk Svenska Kompaniet, arose in December 2007, when, once again, Anders Wiklund spent a few weeks in solitude in Österlen's wintery landscape. Some of the motifs are based on his favourite places: the ever-changing pastoral landscapes around Vallby, Sandhammaren's exquisite bleakness, and captivating Kåseberga – all of which having an extraordinary atmosphere, especially in the exceptional  light of late afternoons, on rainy days, with temperatures a few degrees above zero
